My Travel Essentials

Everyone who travels has a different list of essentials they need to bring with them, whether it’s for a long holiday or just a weekend away, so I thought I would share mine!

Phone and Charger

I never thought I’d be someone who couldn’t live without their phone, but I have sadly fallen into that trap. When I travel, I use it mostly for Google Maps, but it is also my camera and the source of all knowledge I may need last minute, such as parking locations, attraction prices etc. And as my stupid phone drains battery like nobody’s business, I need to have a charger with me!

Last year I invested in a tablet, and I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner! I can use it as an e-reader, TV, laptop and more, and for longer trips, it has been a worthwhile essential for me. And with Netflix’s offline downloads, I can even use it on trains and places with no WiFi.

Prescription Sunglasses

This isn’t an essential everyone can relate to, but I have loved having prescription sunglasses. Being short-sighted, and finding contact lenses uncomfortable to wear, I have been wearing glasses permanently since university (before it was only when required) and regular sunglasses were pointless. Getting myself a pair of prescription sunglasses has been hugely beneficial, even during the winter!

Eye Mask

My flat doesn’t have blackout blinds, so an eye mask is needed (I like total darkness for sleeping) but I have found I need to take it with me when I travel, as it actually helps me sleep better. I have never been someone who gets to sleep quickly, and it’s worse when it isn’t my own bed, so an eye mask helps.

Reusable Water Bottle

I hate going out (for the day, weekend etc.) without a reusable water bottle to hand. I find myself getting much more dehydrated when I am out than when I am just sitting at my desk work, and a bottle of water is perfect. I have a great water infuser one too, so I can enjoy cucumber or lemon infused water when I am out for the day.

Basic Make-Up

On the weekend and when travelling I like to go make-up free, but I always feel better if I have some basics with me; mascara, foundation and eyebrow pencil. Along with the basics, I also have face cream and wipes.

The No-Brainer Essentials

Toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion.

Clothes: jeans, t-shirts, jumpers, hoody, underwear (obvz).

Shoes: one pair of trainers is enough, though I keep walking boots in my car.

Travelling around the country, and further afield is exciting; seeing new places, meeting new people, trying new things. Highlights of My Trip to Scotland

Finding Things to Do in Your Hometown

Going back to the place where you grew up often brings up a lot of nostalgia; you may have moved on from the place, and perhaps cut all your ties with it. However, there is something comforting about walking the familiar streets and hearing the sounds of the place. I grew up in the market […]
