Realistic Goals for 2019

I was looking back at my post on the places to go and things to do I had planned for 2018 and it’s safe to say I didn’t really do any of it. 2018 sucked for me, and I am hoping this coming year is going to be better. As such, I am going to set myself some more realistic, low-key goals for 2019.

I love reading books, but I find instead of reading for a half hour before going bed like I used to, I go on my phone. I have seen many articles saying to avoid screens for about an hour before bed/sleeping. I’m definitely going to try to do this, as I have a few new books for Christmas and have borrowed some from family plus a back-up of books I have bought in the last year and not yet read. Shameful, I know.

Stick to Learning Spanish

A few years ago I came across Duolingo, a free website that helps you learn different languages. I had wanted to learn Spanish for a while, as I wasn’t taught it at school (French and German) and thought this would be a great opportunity. I enjoyed it, and was doing it everyday for ages until I just gave up. Over Christmas I was talking to my brother about it, and decided to download the app to my phone so I could take up learning Spanish again. I’ve been doing every day since the New Year and I am surprised how much I have remembered.

Get Outdoors More

This is one of my goals from last year, and I didn’t stick to it as much as I could have, especially with the gorgeous summer we had. However, I hate the sun (sort of), as I burn quickly and hate that hot, sticky feeling you get as soon as you step outside in the heat. Nevertheless, I am going to try harder to get outdoors more this year, particularly in the next few months, even its just going for walks on the beach or on Dartmoor and Exmoor.

Be Healthier

It’s a cliche to get healthier in the New Year, but I really do need to be healthier and exercise more. I have started the 30 day shred, and am trying to eat more veggie stuff. I have also (slightly reluctantly) agreed to do a park run at least once a month and will start doing yoga too. I got this!

Write More Blog Posts

In the last half of 2018 I did very few posts on this blog; my motivation for doing it was very low. In the last few weeks, however, I’ve had support from friends and fellow bloggers for ideas and I will be doubling down on efforts for more blogs – though doing one a week is unlikely. I’ll be aiming for one or two a month – so stick around.
